Pergamum

Ah the ancient city of Pergamum, our first brush with the many ruins that dots this magical country. Obscured by the clouds and standing atop a hill, the city exudes power as its view stretches out across the valley. It was something to behold with the crumbling city dwarfing us and the theatre that was extravagant piece of Greco-Roman architecture. We then began the quest to Kusadasi where we encountered our first “budget” accommodation. Bear in mind this is the “budget tour”. The hotel was the best thing we have stayed in since leaving Australia; it was four stars with all the trimmings. The town itself was nothing special, but it was nice for a stroll and for a bite to eat and for a huge night out with the bus-a-bout tours. Amy (of Amy and Aaron fame), had her birthday whilst in this picturesque town and was treated to a huge banquet of a dinner followed by an even huger night on the town in which her birthday cake (which Aaron was left holding in the nightclub for a solid ten minutes as no one could locate young Amy) was passed around the entire dance floor with drunk Aussies and Kiwis plunging their hands and faces deep within its moussey goodness.
