Penang

Penang. The island of diversity. From Malaysian, to Indian, to Arabic, to Chinese, every culture is ingrained within one small island. The visitors to these sandy shores are just as mixed as we encountered everyone from polite Singaporeans, to abrasive yet generous Arabs, to leather skinned Brits, to aloof northern Europeans and of course, whinging Western Sydney Bogans.
The food is of course incredible with the a selection of delicacy’s from the around the globe, but namely the local cuisine which has strutted it's stuff on the world stage with the Laksa earning a top ten ranking in CNN's 50 greatest foods in the world. We are whole heartedly attempting to eat basically everything on the island and so far have given it a red hot go.

Whilst Penang or Pinang as it is pronounced in Malay, still hath the customary Asian pong, it is nowhere near as intense as say Bali. We only encounter said stench when walking across open drains in the capital of Georgetown, or crossing small creeks in Batu Ferringhi.

It is a place of beauty and diversity, a land of delicious foods and stunning cultures, an island of relaxation.
