Mekong Delta

The Mekong Delta is a big ol’ brown expanse of water that stretches from the southern tip of Vietnam, into the South China Sea and all the way into the Yellow River in China. It is apparently fresh water but no one dares to drink it anymore. The river is full of small islands, each directed at the average tourist. We visited Unicorn and Coconut Island, which unfortunately the former did not feature any Unicorns. We were taken in row boats up extremely shallow inlets, rowed by two ancient Vietnamese people, pulled by horse drawn carriage through the country side, although the term horse was used very loosely as it was closer in size to a Great Dane, shown a menu with such delicacies as squirrel, iguana and snake, took honey straight from the bees, drank banana sake and saw traditional Vietnamese songs performed.
