Pamukkale, aka the calcium hills & Fethiye

Onwards my wayward son, or let’s keep driving until we see some rad calcium covered hills. Pamukkale. A big ol’ white mountain rising out of dry, arid mountain ranges. An exceptional view when coming into this remarkable place. Throughout the years the calcification of this mountain has formed hot mineral springs. Looking like every four star hotels infinity pool, these mineral springs are supposed to cure illness and refresh the soul. They are also supposed to be hot. I decided that modern medicine would be better for my ailments.

Fethiye was next on the trek through the Turkish county side.

A gorgeous little harbour side town that is the holiday destination of the Turks and also the home of any foreigner who decided that Turkey was way cooler than their hometown. This is also where our accommodation reached its pinnacle with our marina resort situated on the water with stunning views of the town. Surrounded by big boats and big dinner bills we had a day of pure relaxation and crocodile rolls. The W.A. girls certainly had a penchant for alcohol and mild acrobatic skills whilst drinking alcohol. The crocodile roll involved all participants lying on the ground with a shot placed in front of them. Utilising nothing other than their mouth they then must proceed to drink the shot whilst rolling to their right thus completing a full roll and the shot. Needless to say this resulted in one near drowning another smashed shot glass, two errors of direction and twelve hearty belly laughs. We then followed this up with dinner in the fish markets which involved selecting a fish having cooked the way you want and then paying the bill which equalled roughly a months’ worth of travel through Asia.
