Rasnov

On a dark, gloomy morning we decided to explore Rasnov. It is an old fort that sits on top of hill overlooking wide plateaus and marked by snow-capped peaks and pine trees. Truly haunting vestiges as you drive into the town, especially with Bran castle ten miles down the road. The place reeks of terror and monsters. But it was a truly remarkable place, confined within its walls is a still functioning village where you can dance a jig with a court jester, throw an axe or climb the walls and breathe in the Transylvanian views.

Whist there we decided it was time to become at one with the ancient times and learn a skill. Being the superb marksmen we already were we decided that both of us would make incredible archers (this may have come about because we are obsessed with Arrow at the moment), so demonstrating all the class of Legolas and the intensity of Russel Crowe’s Robin Hood, we took to the archery pitch. I managed to hit the board three times which in my head gave me immediate bragging rights, until Metcalfe stepped up and calmly slotted a bullseye. She then proceeded to miss the board, but bullseye. Boom!

Romania's landscapes are simply breathtaking.
